It’s December, and you know what that means? It’s time to get your Christmas tree!
We know that for many people, the Christmas season doesn’t begin when the jingles start playing in the malls, it starts when you bring home and decorate your tree. It’s a great tradition and Fleuristic is happy to help people warm up their home with a beautiful tree this holiday season.
People often ask us about how best to select and care for their tree. Here are some helpful tips:
No Christmas tree is complete until it is lit up. Gone are the days of struggling with chains of bulbs searching for the one that needs to be replaced because all the lights are out. Now you can find flexible lighting that can be draped over your tree, instead of wound around and around.
LED lighting is also a great choice. Now available in a wide variety of styles, LED lighting doesn’t produce heat, uses very little electricity, and looks great. At Fleuristic, we are proud to carry Luca Lighting (both plug-in and battery options) LED lights for your tree. These lights are strung along a flexible wire (available in copper, silver, or clear) for easy use. These fairy lights are easy to put on your tree and can be bent into a variety of shapes to be used throughout your home.
Come and visit Fleuristic today and get everything you need to have a Merry Christmas.
The Holiday season is officially here! As the temperature begins to drop and we spend more time indoors, it’s the perfect time to decorate your home inside and out — it’s also the perfect time to show people you care with gift giving.
November is the perfect time to swap out your Fall decor for a more wintery and seasonal container.
Winter planters filled with fresh cut evergreens, berries, decorative balls, birch logs, and dogwood will look stunning at the front of your home or business.
Come and visit us to build your own masterpiece. We have everything you need in the store, including the container!
Or, if you’d prefer, Fleuristic will craft a gorgeous, custom planter for you. We will build it, deliver it, and install it for you — so there’s no fuss, no muss. These long-lasting planters will look great right up until Spring, and the only thing you’ll need to do is occasionally brush the snow off.
If you’re looking for inspiration to decorate the inside of your home, we’ve got it all. Popular favourites include:
We can also build a custom floral arrangement for your home, or as a gift.
If you’re looking for the perfect gift, we have a wide variety of fashion jewelry, scarves, pashminas, and home decor.
Featuring the designs of local artisan Boo James, and beautiful clothing and accessories by Simply Noelle, our selection is ever-changing.

In the Victorian era, romantic relations were typically discrete and people would show their affection for one another by sending flowers to each other. Then, in the 1930s, there was a movie called Say It With Flowers about a flower seller who falls gravely ill and the people who rally around to support her. In the 1980s, marketers adopted the phrase ‘Say it with Flowers’ and used it to promote selling flowers and floral arrangements for all occasions. Today, flowers are one of the simplest and most effective ways to show you care.
Special occasions don’t stop after the summer. There are plenty of celebrations, weddings, and anniversaries during the harvest season — and there’s Thanksgiving and Halloween! Adding floral arrangements to your events will help to make these special occasions even more memorable.
The trend during the Fall is to incorporate a wide variety of warm colours into your bouquets and arrangements. Using a mix of in-season and imported flowers will allow you to have a bouquet, centrepiece, or urn that features rich, deep hues.
Popular choices include:
You may also want to consider adding in some fun, seasonal adornments like gourds, pumpkins, or even scarecrows and ghosts!
Filling your urns and containers with plants, flowers, and decor is a great way to embrace the season. Adding Fall colours in containers will look stunning in the front of your home or business.
Popular choices include:
Do you have empty flower planters outside your home or business just waiting to be filled, but you don't have the time to fill them?
At Fleuristic, we offer seasonal planter and container services.
We will meet with you, decide on your colour scheme and preferences, build you a custom container, and deliver it to your home or business! Contact us today to learn more.
Are you looking for a fun thing to do with some friends? Do you want to learn about creating floral arrangements? Are you trying to find something fun to do with your team at work? Did you want to do something different as part of a special event?
Instead of throwing axes or doing something physical, why not create something beautiful? At Fleuristic we offer floral parties, workshops, and team building.
Working together in small groups, or as individuals, to complete a flower arrangement is a lot of fun — and you get to leave with something beautiful at the end!
An added benefit to taking part in a hands-on floral event is that plant-related activities have been proven to promote health and wellness for individuals and groups. Some of the benefits include improving cognitive function as well as physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Spending time around plants and flowers, and working hands-on with them, is a great way to get in some bonding time, team building time, and reap the rewards of horticultural therapy.
At your event, we will work alongside your group and keep your activities running smoothly. We can make it relaxing or competitive, whatever you prefer. And don’t worry, you don’t have to have a green thumb to participate.
Fleuristic will create a unique experience to meet the needs of your group, and we can hold the event at our shop, or we can come to you.
Playing and working with flowers is a great way to have fun and engage with your friends, family, and co-workers. Contact us today and we’ll help build the perfect event to meet your needs, timelines, and budget.
Fairy Gardens are a terrific way to add some whimsy to your garden, planters, and indoor pots — some people say they bring a home good luck.
While fairy gardens may seem like a new idea, they have actually been around a long time. Originally presented as part of the bonsai dish gardens at the Japanese Pavilion at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893, fairy gardens have since become popular all over the world.
What is a fairy garden?
Fairy gardens are miniature gardens that feature living plants, tiny structures, and accessories for fairies. You can design a unique mini garden and then create small scenes with fairies enjoying themselves in amongst the plants.
Fairy garden plants are specially selected to flourish in small spaces and not grow too tall. There are all sorts of flowering plants, groundcovers, and greenery that you can choose from when planting your dream fairy garden.
Then, after your garden is planted, it’s time to select your fairies!
Fleuristic carries a wide variety of ceramic, hand-painted fairy garden figurines and accessories that are made in Canada. There are all kinds of fairy figurines to choose from; single fairies, best friend fairies, cottages, benches, wheelbarrows and other gardening accessories, and even gates and decor!
Creating fairy gardens is a great family activity and the number of scenes you can create is virtually endless.
In some gardens and parks people place a fairy door at the bottom of trees. If you have a look around some of the parks in Guelph, you will come across fairy doors. Sometimes you will see little presents that children have left by the doors for the fairies — it’s enchanting.
There is a magical element behind Fairy Gardening, and some people say that if you build the fairies a home they will come!
Visit Fleuristic to see our full line of Fairy Gardening — we carry it all year ‘round.
Hot summer days are great for getting out and enjoying the sunshine, but the heat can be hard on your plants. During the summer months, annuals and perennials will need frequent watering, and may even need to be moved into the shade. Succulents, on the other hand, are drought tolerant, low maintenance, and are not typically susceptible to same kind of heat damage.
At Fleuristic, we love succulents. Here are a few of the benefits of succulents:
People often ask us how they should look after their succulents. There is a lot of confusion as to how often to water, how much to water, how much sunlight they require, and what kinds of soil work best. Here are some tips to care for your succulent:
